Top Trilogies cont. (#6-10)

captain-america6.  Captain America Trilogy: Captain America has achieved what has never before happened by improving with each film.  Chris Evans has truly embodied this character. All three of these films have been met with both critical and box office success.

7.  Back to the Future Trilogy:  It is hard to imagine a film world without Back to the Future. This film is delightfully playful, wistfully nostalgic, and utterly enjoyable. It has shaped the childhood of a generation.

8. Before Trilogy:  Although not as financially successful as many of the other films on this list. The quality of these films cannot be denied. All the films in this trilogy have over a 95% on Rotten Tomato. For everyone who has not seen the Before trilogy, be sure to check it out.

9. Alien Trilogy: Any trilogy that features Ridley Scott and James Cameron in the director’s chair has the ability to be exceptional. The first two Alien films are exactly that, however, it is David Fincher’s Alien 3 that puts this film so low on the list.

 10.  Spiderman Trilogy: Sam Raimi’s Spiderman Trilogy is still home to two of the best comic book films of all time. Spiderman 3 is by far the weakest of the films, but one lackluster outing is not enough to sideline this trilogy with two spectacular films.

Honorable Mention: Men in Black: The Men in Black trilogy is Will Smith at his best. The first installment exceeded expectations both financially and critically, however, Men in Black was unable to reciprocate its early success.

I just wanted to clarify for this list that we only used films that currently have only three movies with the same main character. For example, I would include Star Wars because the main characters change from Episodes I-III (Anakin Skywalker), Episodes IV-VI (Luke Skywalker), and Episode VII (Rey). However, I would not include Indiana Jones, Terminator, or Bourne because they have 4+ films with the same title character.

Our first list got a lot of feedback so let us know if you agree with our second list! Is there a trilogy that we missed? Let us know in the comments below!
